What is yoga?
What is wellbeing?

Yoga is an ancient practice which originated in India about 5,000 years ago and has been adapted in other countries in a variety of ways. It focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing. The main components of yoga are postures (a series of movements designed to increase strength and flexibility) and breathing. Yoga is not a religion but retains its roots in contemplation and reflection. You can read more about some of the benefits of practising yoga in my blog post.

Wellbeing is 'the state of being comfortable, healthy or happy', according to the dictionary. It is often described as simply feeling good. We use it to talk about how we feel, how well we're coping with daily life or what feels possible at the moment. However, it is important to realise that wellbeing is a much broader concept than moment-to-moment happiness. While it does includes happiness, it also includes other things, such as how satisfied people are with their life as a whole, their sense of purpose, and how in control they feel.
